The Ball Clay Heritage Society

Ball clay was the original reason for the existence of the Stover Canal. The Ball Clay Heritage Society, in its own words, 'exists to preserve, conserve and realise the rich heritage of ball clay production in South and North Devon and Dorset, and to further public knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the industry.'

The Templer Way is an 18 mile long heritage trail that follows, as closely as possible, the route of the Granite Tramway, Canal and the River Teign from the Haytor Quarries high on Dartmoor to the docks at Teignmouth. The route is well signposted and can equally be enjoyed in sections or in its entirety.

A large and diverse site covering many aspects of the waterways - boat owning, hiring, cruising and heritage.

Situated along the river Teign close to the canal, ideally situated for a coffee or cream tea after exploring the paths by the river and canal.
